Africa are fighting international students graduate

A high number of international students at a university graduate and successful evaluation and ranking requirements are great. African universities are now internationalization 'and preaching cooperation with foreign organizations through a variety of programs, both for research purposes and for international recognition.

South African universities in Africa and South African universities and other leading universities in Europe and America can be seen in the cooperation between them. This is a welcome development. However, the internationalization of South African citizens putting pressure.

Another one is the importance of the internationalization of the South African environment for students to learn how to create cultures of other countries - particularly the nations of the Southern African Development Community in the north, the coming of African students from SADC.

But these internationalization exorbitant fees for international students are being undermined. Local and international - - available for non-SADC students graduate scholarships for post-graduate studies in South Africa to join the fight in spite of all types of financing.

But just to say, let me briefly tell of my experience as an international student in one of South Africa's top universities.

My experience

I was an honors program in Nigeria in the last phase of my teachers, who had gone to South Africa when he was a doctor, a teacher who requested an email sent to me by proposing a South African university. The cover of my studies at the postgraduate funding opportunities, he said.

I graduated from a good result and asked for a master leading South African university (that is, I will not name) at the idea of getting funded. And it was positive - Nigeria was the result of an international company I was working on my request.

I was very happy, always dreamed of having a new experience. But I realized that it was a mirage. I suppose that year to start my master, but could not because of the money to finance it myself, I do not, so I deferred my admission to the next academic year.

At that time, my department to all prospective applicants to apply for a grant from the Department of this particular form. I watch a lot of spiritual fasting and prayer, I have found that the South African student scholarship application form and limited to SADC because it was strange to be given to students from other African countries.

It was a bright Monday morning I had been accepted for the second time in an email I say, and that put me in a competitive position in the scholarship program was a prerequisite for admission.

I began to prepare myself before the big trip, a second chance to make use of my mind, come what may.

I was immediately put someone in the medical care and other necessary documents to be useful to permit testing, the South African high commission in my country. My permit application was successful, even without any problems, no.

Received an email in the middle of preparing for, while I grant the outcome, and I almost fainted when I read it was unsuccessful. But something in me kept me going.

My former teacher said I have to find my way to South Africa, and most likely to get a scholarship there. I collected some money from friends and family I could. When they came to know that my teacher was no longer suit me in South Africa, and after three weeks of staying with his friends, I was sent on my way.

I could not enroll in college because I could not pay the fees. Nothing came of it, but I went to the support department. I continued to go back and pray for a miracle.

Grants and scholarships are available to all South Africans were in the office said, but the university was able to apply for a merit award for my excellent results. I asked to get lucky in the middle of the year. Immediately I went to the registration center - I cannot wait to finally have a master's student.

International shocking rates

But I got the shock of my life for more international students to pay a fee of R16, 000 (US $ 2,000) was told more than once and teaching almost R35, 000 (US $ 4,500) over the fee. I was so stressed out; I almost have developed psychological problems. I thought back to Nigeria, the point was not to tell anyone about me because of the exorbitant international student fee.

He rose to international payments from R2, 500 R16, 000 - and keeps rising every year. In 2012 the share of the international university, all international students from outside the SADC, including the expense of Africa, is about R21, 000.

South Africa's many foreign students to complete their studies in a lucky person - a very lucky in the end of the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD; I received a scholarship to pay my fees on all international.

I finished my Masters, but then the problem of doctoral studies as a student in front of an international fund.

African graduate students needed more help

What is interesting is that there are a large number of international graduate students in the North African countries of SADC, but they pay the same fees as students from rich countries.

What happens when international students from Africa, such high rates will have to pay for their own continent? Leaving a European country, the other students are treated as home students.

Also, it is interesting to share some of the university of discrimination based on the number of graduate students are receiving substantial government subsidies.

Many African students have landed on the streets as a result of the discriminatory policies of some institutions in South Africa, and they completely lost. Who decided to leave the university because this problem is to download the current Nigeria and other non-SADC nations I know a lot of students.

I tried, in my capacity as a member of the executive of the international student body, to discuss this with my university, but in the contempt for international offices and management. It was the most annoying and international rates kept increasing more than 10% a year.

I sincerely appreciate it was awarded to me during my masters scholarship, but I was just lucky.

I wrote this story, do not blame anyone or any organization, but not the SADC region of Africa, international students are finding it really hard to survive, and that they should not have to pay for what you did not argue that South African universities are paying.

I think the South African and international financiers to increase scholarships for international graduate students and non-SADC African students should have their funding schemes - these students their skills, through research and publications are contributing positively to the development of South Africa and Africa.

* Adagio Oluwafemi charge lower fees for international students are now a PhD student from the University of South Africa.
