The government closed the University of Justin Mongo, who was killed on 20 February in police custody in Koudougou, the student protests in response to the death of a student in the west of the capital Ouagadougou.
Students demonstrated in several cities, denouncing Mongo beaten to death by police, despite the official version of the cause of death as meningitis. Students also the health, safety and demanded the resignation of the ministers of justice.
In a move to appease the students, led by the police authorities, the governor fired two police officers charged with beating a student.
In an official statement, President Blasé Compare called for calm and condemned the violence.

Yemen: Ninety-eight students were injured in the army
